The ARTAS® iXi utilizes an AI algorithm to guide its proven 3-Camera Stereoscopic Vision System with a 44-micron resolution (less than 1/10th the diameter of a pin point) to identify the most robust and healthy follicular units in their naturally-occurring hair groupings for extraction. How Does the ARTAS® Robotic Procedure Work?

The ARTAS® Robotic Procedure is a minimally invasive hair restoration solution that leverages digital imaging and precision robotics to harvest healthy grafts for transplantation. Unlike the earlier methods of hair restoration, uses small extraction sites rather than a traditional strip excision. Typically healing with minimal visible scarring and avoiding a large linear strip scar after surgery. Stitches and staples are not usually required. The benefit is a minimal downtime time and the ability to return to normal activities and work sooner.

How is the ARTAS® Robotic Procedure Different Than “Hair Plugs”?

Are ARTAS® Procedure Hair Transplant Results Permanent?

The ARTAS® Robotic Procedure uses your own permanent growing hair, typically from the back of your head, and your physician then implants this hair to the thinning areas of your scalp. As this hair is not susceptible to the conditions that cause male pattern baldness, transplanted hair will last a lifetime.

How Long Does the ARTAS® Robotic Procedure Take?

The ARTAS® Robotic Procedure usually takes from four to eight hours as determined by your doctor to achieve your hair restoration goals. You are comfortably seated during the process, and the doctor and staff are there with you to maximize your comfort throughout the procedure.

How Long Does It Take To Recover and Heal?

Recovery time with the ARTAS® Robotic Procedure is less than with most surgical cosmetic procedures. As there is no surgical incision or stitches required with the ARTAS® Robotic Procedure, healing time is short, and you can usually go back to your daily activities after a day or two. Some doctors schedule a follow up visit the morning after the procedure to examine your scalp and to teach you how to take care of your newly implanted hair.

When will my new hair start to grow?

Transplanted hair grows naturally in phases. New hairs are seen about three months after the procedure, and will continue to increase over the course of a full year. At approximately six months, you will enjoy a noticeable improvement and after a full year, you will see final results.

Will People Know I have Had a Hair Restoration Procedure?

The ARTAS®iXi system achieves the most natural-looking restoration with minimal visible signs of having undergone a hair transplantation once full results are expected in twelve months). With regard to the donor area, the harvest extraction sites are obscured by one week of hair growth.

With regard to the recipient area, the length of time it remains noticeable that you have undergone hair transplantation ranges from two days to two weeks depending upon the recipient location as well as surface area transplanted. This is universal to almost all types of hair transplant procedures. Most patients find they can return to work and social activities without others noticing they have had a procedure within the above timeframe.

Your transplanted hair will grow gradually (typically starting six months post-op), minimizing the chance that people will notice the procedure. Your friends and family will comment that you look better, but the results from your hair restoration are subtle and natural.

Does the ARTAS® Robotic Procedure Hurt?

The ARTAS® Robotic Procedure, an outpatient procedure performed in the doctor’s office, requires only a local anesthetic. The patient feels virtually minimal discomfort with local anesthesia. Some patients can experience minor discomfort and swelling post-procedure, which subsides in one to three days.

Will There Be Visible Scarring in the Donor Area One Week After My Procedure?

No. FUE extraction sites, once fully healed, are represented by small circles (approx. 1.27mm in diameter) which are lighter in color than your skin. In the majority of our patients the donor area would be covered by enough hair growth (1/4 inch) to obscure the FUE extraction site scars by one week after the procedure.

Do I have to Cut My Hair Before Treatment?

Trimming your hair in the donor area allows the ARTAS® System to accurately visualize, track and harvest each grouping of hairs. You will receive instructions on having your hair cut shorter in preparation for your ARTAS® Robotic Procedure.
